ReSTOR IOL is a multifocal lense that allows you to gain a range of vision potentially without the use of reading glasses or bifocals after your cataract surgery. ReSTOR IOL lense is divided into two main areas – a refractive outer ring that focuses light for distance vision, and a series of apodized diffractive rings in the center of the lens that focus light for near, distance and intermediate vision. Together, these areas provide you with multiple focal points, for excellent vision at all distances.
Insurance policies vary, but Medicare, private and supplemental insurance will typically cover basic cataract surgery procedures with conventional IOL. If you decide to have ReSTOR IOL implanted, there may be additional costs that are not covered by insurance or Medicare and you can elect to pay the difference. Contact our office, or your primary insurance provider, for more information about your policy coverage.
With the ReSTOR IOL lense, there is a chance that you may experience halos or glare in your vision. As with any surgical procedure, there are always inherent risks. You and your doctor should consider the potential risks and benefits of cataract surgery, and determine if the ReSTOR IOL is right for you.
